Bridestowe Lavender Farm

The Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm established in 1921, is one of the world's largest single commercial lavender farms, producing the finest quality lavender flowers and lavender oil, used traditionally in the perfumery industry. The farm consists of 120 acres (48 hectares) of rolling fields of lavender and is considered one of Tasmania's most spectacular sights during flowering in December and January.

Wine Regions

Tasmanian winegrowers use the cleanest air in the world, the purest mountain water and the four distinct seasons of the mid-southern latitudes to produce premium quality wines for a world market.

Hillwood Strawberry Farm Fruit Wine and Cheese Centre

Hillwood Strawberry Farm Fruit, Wine and Cheese Centre is only 20 minutes from Hadspen. At any time of the year, apart from Christmas Day, you may sample and buy fruit wines, fruit vinegars and cheeses. Home-made jams, honey, chocolate, fudge and gourmet sauces are available for purchase. During the warmer months, you are able to pick your own berries and enjoy a generous serve of strawberries, ice cream and cream.

Tasmania Zoo

Explore Tasmania Zoo and discover the largest collection of native and exotic animals on display in Tasmania! The zoo is located just a short 20 minute drive from either Hadspen or the centre of Launceston within a 900 acre natural bush property.

With over 80 species of birds, crocodiles, American alligator, reptiles, seven species of primates, wombats, Tasmanian Devils, quolls, koala and much more. Experience the Little Blue Penguin & Tasmanian Devil feedings and interpretation sessions daily and take the opportunity to have your photograph taken with a baby Devil!

Tasmanian Devil feeding times:10.30am, 1.00pm & 3.30pm (7 days a week)

Little Blue Penguins feeding times: 10.00am & 4.00pm (7 days a week)

Cataract Gorge Reserve

Cataract Gorge Reserve, or The Gorge as the locals call it, is a unique natural formation within a two-minute drive of central Launceston - a rare natural phenomenon in any city. In 15 minutes you can walk from the city centre along the banks of the Tamar River into The Gorge. The Kings Bridge over The Gorge was floated into place in 1867. The First Basin, on the southern side, features a swimming pool and an open area surrounded by bushland. It is Launceston's beach.

Franklin House

Franklin House is a Georgian house built in 1838 for Britton Jones, a Launceston brewer and innkeeper. All the interior woodwork is Australian cedar. The house is a fine example of domestic architecture of the period, and at one time it was used as a school for boys. The National Trust has restored and furnished the house to recreate the original Georgian family home.

Old Umbrella Shop

The Old Umbrella Shop is a heritage-listed store in central Launceston. The Old Umbrella Shop was built in the 1860s, entirely from Tasmanian blackwood. The store still stocks umbrellas in addition to National Trust and Tasmanian products and souvenirs. There is also a fascinating display of old and antique umbrellas spanning the last 100 years.

The Doll and Bear Cottage of Scottsdale

Owners George and Margaret have been collecting dolls and bears for over 20 years and have an amazing collection with over 300 dolls and bears on display. Each one is a collector's item with their own unique and individual story.
